It was a meeting kind of morning. I like talking about why APX is great.

Today I picked up 6 weeks worth of mail from the post office. I had started getting threatening notes from my mailman so I figured the time had come. Surprisingly it only took me 20 minutes to go through.

I turned my thermostat off about a week ago. I love living in the cold but today we reached a new low. I still didn't turn it back on.

What's with Restoration Hardware's new look? So bland and monochromatic and creepy. Yuck.

I made muffins for a neighbor today from my favorite mix. Try the Lehi Roller Mills' raspberry muffin mix...and bring me one when you do.

I drove down to Provo today just as the clouds were apparently having a party a little south of Y mountain. It looked awesome.

I watched Syd and Berto tonight. They had fun mixing apple juice with the great soup Liv made for dinner, coloring in the tub, singing songs in a made up Latinate language, and searching for a mysterious coughing animal that I kept explaining was the dryer. It was a very eventful evening.

I don't like it when my friends in the office go out of town. Really, it makes the office too boring.

Tonight we drove up to Sundance for dinner and even though I was bitter about the freezing cold, the drive was beautiful. The trees looked like they were frosted with snow.

Dinner at The Foundry was great. Good food, good conversation, good evening.

Dessert was pumpkin and white chocolate chip bread pudding. Good, but the brown sugar ice cream was my favorite.

Today I discovered where Little Buddy hangs out - my kitchen towel drawer. So, so gross. I'm scared that a) he and his furry family are burrowed in there and when I move a towel they'll come out screaming and b) they've touched everything in all of my cabinets and drawers so I'm going to show up with hantavirus any day. Don't worry, I wikipediaed the symptoms.

In happier news, look what Alicia made tonight. So cute, right? I'm getting one of these pans from Sur la Table asap and then making doughnuts for everyone I know.

Today was a long day. Long like I worked 14 hours. Long like I ate lunch at my desk. Long like I spent my afternoon munching on way too many peanut M&Ms with almonds.

Long like I was ornery to people I should have been nice to (sorry Tara!). Long like I was so stressed that I felt like I wasn't breathing in all the way. Long like I worked in Data Entry until 10:30pm.

Long like the first day of summer at APX always is. And I loved every single minute of it.

Put together the Ikea chair today. I was worried that it was a little too modern with my rustic table but I think I like it. Thoughts?

This is the view from the window behind my kitchen sink. When I think that I might not be in love with Utah, this reminds me that I am.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup for lunch. Comfort food at its best. Too bad my house was so cold that it felt like January inside.

Jerk chicken with Jamaican rice and orange and avocado salad for dinner. Chicken by Brent, rice by Mary, salad by Lindsay. We're a good team, no?

All manner of raspberry goodness for dessert. It was a great food day.

My new favorite app is Shakeit. Don't be fooled by Shakeit Photo. Just plain Shakeit is better, Mary and I did a side by side comparison.

I'm really not a fan of having my fingernails painted (but my toenails are always done) - I'm too much of a perfectionist to tolerate smears and chips. Today I took my time, tried an out of character color, and am happy with the results. We'll how quickly it chips but assuming I can get a couple of days out of it I may be turning over a new leaf. I think I want to try a coral next...

Today I held played with baby Lucy for a while. I sure do like her. She's a little nervous by nature so her smiles aren't always easy to coax out but when she gives you one she means it.

Tara and I visited Ikea today and looked at dining room chairs. I bought 2 Bernhard chairs - one white leather and the other brown. I'm pretty sure they're not substantial enough for my massive table but I really liked them and I'm wondering if I can choose a more diminuitive set of chairs and just allow the table to kind of stand alone in the space. Assuming I can assemble them I'll share a picture tomorrow and we can vote on them.

I'm pretty sure I need a new dishwasher. My dry cycle involves leaving the dishwasher open all day and then picking food out of the bottom. I'd prefer to not buy another appliance but seriously, this is a joke.

Tonight I cheered the Jazz to a victory over the Nuggets. Fun game, but I was exhausted. I don't think I'm meant to do neat things on Friday night - I'm almost always too tired to fully enjoy them. I did however use some energy to compare suite tickets to normal seats and have decided I much prefer the suite. Sure you can't see as well, and I will concede that as a major downside, but you can walk around, there's a bathroom in the room and snacks are provided. This opinion may make me less of a fan but I can deal with the judgement.

Tomorrow I'm headed to Ikea to check out a couple of dining room chair options I found online and to maybe get this bookshelf. It's cute, versatile, my style and well priced - and best of all it would mean I can start unpacking yet another room.

Things that I don't prefer today:
Preventable mistakes
Callouses on my feet
Forgetting to make my bed

Things that I love today:
Work friends
New babies to cuddle
A day of focus
Anticipating the weekend
Spaghetti with meat sauce

This picture has nothing to do with anything. I just think it's cool that a knife went through the hand of someone I know.

Apparently my daily posts are now brain dumps. Hope you don't mind, this is what works for me.

I think I want some of these trees in my yard. They're everywhere I look these days but maybe that means they're easy to care for? Anyone know what they are?

I think I want some of these plates, maybe with random letters. My mind is filled with uses for them, I'll let you know what I end up doing.

Today's lunch at APX was eggplant parmesan layered with marinara, mozzarella and pesto served with asparagus and a garlic herb crostini. It was amazing.

The best indicator that an APX summer has consumed my life is stickies all over my desk. I'm busy but it feels really good.

Today was the first time this year I've thought that Utah was just a tad warmer than I like it. Hallelujah that it's finally warm!

I've become less motivated to decorate my house. I did so much, so fast, that now I'm taking a little break. The good news is that now I'm really focusing on and enjoying what I do have done - like these chairs in my living room. Just darling.

Brain dump:

My favorite kitchen gadgets are measuring cups and spoons. As you can see from my collection, I take them seriously.

There's a mouse in my house. I've named him Little Buddy, my generic name for most little male or gender neutral things, and he scares me. I'm not scared of HIM per se, if fact, if he stopped eating my food, promised to only poop outside, and didn't come out when guests are present, I'd likely invite him to stay around awhile. I'm scared of what has to be done now that I know he has been visiting me. Due to my sensitive soul, fear of him rotting in my wall, and deep belief in stewardship I won't kill him but that means I'll have to see him in a trap and hear his squeaky voice. And that's the scary part. Wish me luck, turns out that owning my house means I can't procrastinate or delegate on this one.

PS In addition to Little Buddy, I'm being stalked by a potentially pregnant cat I call Terry, who is apparently useless. Awesome.

A few thoughts from today:

1. Xanax sometimes makes my vision blurry. Thankfully I only take it when I fly but it has made reading my gossip magazines a challenge today.

2. When on a flight that has a layover and then continues on to your final destination do not assume you'll be on the same plane. Apparently "in this day and age it never happens." Thank you nice flight attendant for updating me on airline industry changes - I'm now a more informed traveller. I just wish I had known I'd have a traditional layover when my ticket was booked. I'm now on a 1 man mission to educate the masses.

3. I like to be alone when I travel. I found this set of chairs down a random corridor in MSP and set up shop. I now feel significantly better prepared for my next flight.

4. I love traveling in a pair of shoes that never hurt no matter how far I walk. Thank you Tory Burch for your literal support.

4. I already miss Erika, Nick & crew. We had fun this weekend. I need to find Nick a job in Utah...who's volunteering to help?
