Crocs

If there is 1 piece of clothing I ALWAYS get compliments on it's my hot pink Prima Crocs. I love them. They're comfortable, cute and don't look anything like Crocs. The best news? They're on a buy one get one free sale right now. There aren't a lot of colors left, but it's worth a look here. Enter coupon code slx8797 to save an extra 25%. 2 pairs of shoes for $14.99? Not too shabby...

The summer of concerts continued with Kenny Chesney. Tara, Jeremiah and I showed up at the start of the show which started with Lady Antebellum. Unfortunately it was about 95 degrees and while humidity is not a factor in UT, it was still unbearable. Lady Antebellum was pretty good but Miranda Lambert followed and she was terrible (poor singing, lots of yelling and talking about beer...not my thing).

Kenny didn't get on until late in the evening but he was worth the wait. I sang along to every song but 1 and loved the show! The best part may have been his encore - it was all covers sung by him and members of his band. Steve Miller Band, U2, etc...it was really fun. The show went really late but I'm glad we stayed until nearly the very end.

I hung out with Tara and watched SYTYCD but not before Darc and I had a photo shoot just after she had gotten drenched by the hose. I really like this girl.

Some days of my life are exceptionally boring and I have nothing to blog about them. July 21st is like that. The only activity of note was getting my eyebrows waxed, which isn't that neat unless you're the one with a less hairy face. Speaking of hair, have any of you heard of a Brazilian blowdry? I read about it in a gossip magazine and it supposedly will remove frizz from my hair. Of course no salon in Utah has even heard of them, but I'm going to Seattle soon and found a salon there that will do one. The question is, is it worth $200?

Mary, Brent and I went to Joe Vera's for dinner with Brent's friend David. I had been there one time before but left because of less than acceptable service. This time around the service was great and the food even better. If you go, try the fajitas - they won't disappoint.

Sundays are a good time for catching up on blogs and since I have 273 on Google Reader I usually have at least a few things to read. I don't update my blog roll very often (last time was Thanksgiving) so until I get around to it, here are a few I've been enjoying recently.

One of the best parts of growing up? Watching your manly friends with babies that aren't their own. At B Money's birthday party Dallas played with baby Reese for a long time - she loved the attention but spent a while staring at Jeremiah. It was ridiculously cute.

Sharkman

It's Shark Week on the Discovery Channel...
...and that always makes me think of this guy. Christian, I hope you enjoy it.

On a whim a couple of months ago I bought George Strait tickets. I've never been a big fan of his old stuff but I really like his new music so I crossed my fingers that he wouldn't sing too many old songs. Mary, Brent and I went together and had perfect seats and a perfect evening. The weather was just right, the music was awesome (not too old) and we had a lot of fun.
EVM, this is for you.

I was in Vegas when baby Vanessa was born so I went to see her when I got home. She's the daughter of the APX State Licensing manager, Viviana, and is so tiny and perfect. I got to hold for over an hour and loved every single minute of it!

When I get waxed my esthetician uses finipil after she rips my hair out and I love it. It cools my skin, kills bacteria so I don't break out, and numbs the pain. My esthetician gives me a little packet of every time I go but I'm buying a tube - it's awesome.

The mysterious 2 toed man

Some of you have wondered about the 2 toed man in the picture in this post. Yes, he only has 2 toes, they were cut off by a lawnmower when he was 5. He also is one of the funniest people I know. Maybe losing your toes makes you funnier?

This is the summer of concerts, starting with American Idol. Esther, Rob and Andrew joined me and despite a mix up with our seats we had a great time. I love seeing AI live because I feel like they're my long lost friends and I'm reminded of how much I like their music. During the season I was a big fan of Adam Lambert but have decided that I'm glad Kris won - Adam is just too much for me.

When Liv went to get her hair done I watched Syd and Rob. We ate breakfast, played and went on a walk. We had a great time!

I love you more than Derek Swanson

I am blessed with a LOT of really neat friends however one of the tenderest spots in my heart is reserved for Derek Swanson. In my "I Like You" book Derek wrote "I like you because you treat me like I'm someone special. Not short-bus special, but special. I'm special to you, and you're special to me." And he's right - he IS special to me. Derek and I were good friends at BYU and now see each other a couple of times a year but our reunions are always happy and our friendship picks up right where it left off. When he battled cancer I prayed harder for him than I have almost anyone - every time thinking of his smile that can light up a room...and my heart.
A little while ago I got to go to Derek's wedding reception in Salt Lake. He married the loveliest girl and they make the most beautiful couple. Due to some technical glitches I only have 1 really pathetic picture from the event but his wife Becky Jean was nice enough to post a video on her blog - which I promptly stole. Now all of you who couldn't attend and don't read their blog can see it.

Sunday morning Mary and I dilly dallied and ordered room service. We were planning on taking a commercial flight back to Utah but the APX plane ended up being in Vegas so we got to stay a couple hours longer.
After checking out of the hotel we went to Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian for lunch. I had a braised short rib grilled cheese sandwich - seriously amazing. For dessert we ordered a dozen freshly made chocolate chip cookies.Flying home...

Saturday, July 11, 2009

Saturday morning Mary and I slept in and then headed down to the pool with Sarah, Debbie, Bonnie and Heather. We laid out in the very hot sun and swam when it became unbearable. When it finally became difficult to breath in the impossibly hot air we went back to the room.Mary, Sarah and I then went shopping at Caesar's. We had a great time, and I spent way too much money. I got my first pair of Jimmy Choos. Not sure what I was thinking, but they were on sale and they were cute and next thing I knew I owned them.

I also picked up my favorite little blue box...
...that had these inside.
After shopping we went to dinner at Nobu at the Hard Rock. We had ceviche, shrimp tempura, black cod, and sushi. The best part? Tuna sushi wrapped in soy paper - it was beautiful and delicious.
After dinner the APX wives, Mary and I went to Phantom of the Opera at the Venetian.
After the show Mary, Sarah and I went to our favorite dessert spot in Vegas, Jean-Philippe Patisserie. We had mararoons, crepes and gelato - it was really, really good!
