I spent all day Friday in a work meeting - thankfully with people I really like. After the meeting we went to Joe's Stone Crab for dinner. Still one of my all time favorite restaurants, I truly enjoyed myself. We started with appetizers involving all sorts of seafood - including stone crabs. Mary flew in as dinner started and got to Joe's just as we were finishing appetizers. Before my meal I had a wedge salad...
and ordered the Alaskan king crab legs for dinner. For dessert I had the coconut cream pie - I'm still dreaming about it.
After dinner we all headed over to Nike for a shopping spree. I got these cute orange running shoes - I haven't run in them yet but I sure love looking at them.
After shopping we saw Love at the Mirage.

On Thursday I flew to Vegas for a work meeting and a few days of playing. We landed in Vegas, checked into the Hard Rock and went to dinner at Mon Ami Gabi at the Paris. We had a lot of great food that I couldn't take pictures of because it was too dark. After dinner I went to bed - yes, I could have partied but I was very tired.

I am lucky enough to have 3 managers having babies within the next 2 months. 2 boys and 1 little girl are joining the APX family - I can't wait to meet them. We threw a shower for Savvy at Chili's and had a good time talking, laughing, eating and looking at baby products.

On Tuesday I met Esther, Rob, Robby, Liv, Scott, Syd and Berto at Red Robin for a farewell dinner. E, R & R were headed to MD the next day and Liv + kids were leaving for Oregon the day Parsons got home. Some of you may not need a dinner to commemorate such moments but we like to see each other and will take any opportunity to eat out. I had a whiskey river burger (Tuesday is my illegal day off from turning over a new leaf) and enjoyed every single bite.

I mentioned that I am turning over a new leaf, which has meant some lifestyle changes. One of those is daily workouts. Since the foot surgery experience of a year ago I have been a little wary of the treadmill. I wouldn't say that I'm scared of it, more disinterested in having it anywhere near my foot. The past couple of weeks has brought frequent meetings between the treadmill and I, including an intense session on Monday. Our love/hate relationship is finally turning into one of just love.

I have an addiction to the food network. Sunday afternoon is long, and sometimes slow if I don't take a nap, so I often play online, blog, send emails, spend money on iTunes and hang out with Mary and Brent with food network as my background noise. I love Ace of Cakes, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, Food Network Challenge, Giada at Home, Healthy Appetite, and The Best Thing I Ever Ate. I look forward to seeing my friends and watching them create delicious food. I haven't quite taken the next step to trying their recipes, but it seems like that might be coming soon.

I love 3 day weekends because I can run my errands AND do plenty of relaxing. On our day off Marie, Mary and I spent several hours at the pool getting brown.

Still not where I was in January, but I'm making progress.
After the pool Esther, Rob, Liv, Scott & kids went to the freedom fair in Provo. Kids make experiences like fairs so much more fun. Watching them explore the world really is exciting...especially when it involves cotton candy!

Mary and I have talked about seeing The Proposal for months and tried to go...but it was sold out. We settled for My Sister's Keeper and weren't disappointed. I cried and cried, had a heartfelt connection to the characters and loved the storyline. I've always liked Cameron Diaz but have started to see that she really only has 1 character, and I like that character, but she's not the most versatile actress. She did a pretty good job playing a more mature, established character but there were a few moments that flashed me back to her younger, more flighty roles.
Overall a really, really good movie and if you haven't seen it, rent it when it's out on video.

Once a month for the past couple of months my managers have gotten together for a barbeque at one of their houses. It's a fun tradition that lets us connect outside of work - a really important component of maintaining a good working relationship. This month we met at Danielle's and had her dad's famous ribs - seriously good. I didn't take any I'll recommend a product.

My hair girl told me about Brocato's cloud 9 blowout a couple of cuts ago but I don't always take product recommendations from stylists - who knows what their motivations are. After noticing that my hair girl uses this every time she cuts my hair I figured there must be a reason for her loyalty so I bought it. I use it while my hair is damp and not only does my hair feel stronger, smell great, and dry faster, I don't have to use a gloss when I'm done. It's an all-in-one that produces great results.

Bow holder

I'm not in need of one of these at the moment, but I know a couple of ladies with little girls that are. This is a great do it yourself project, see the tutorial here.

For Liv's 27th birthday we had a little party at her house. It was fun having Steph and Rob there for what typically would be a Carters/Parsons/Lindsay party. I got Liv a gift certificate to get her hair done. This was taken as Liv opened her gift and it's probably not the cutest but it really captured the excitement of the moment - there's nothing like giving a gift that someone really wants!

Mary and I went to Gateway to check out a sofa that Z Gallerie thought I might be interested in. I've been looking for a sofa for a LONG time. I'm really picky and while I've found several options that could work, none of them have been quite right. I think this new one may be perfect - it's tall, it's deep and it has clean lines. The small pillows aren't attached, and it's very comfortable. Only small concern is that the leather is kind of slippery...for right now I don't think that's a deal breaker.
After shopping we went to Red Rock for dinner. Since Mary and I moved in together I've heard about the tuna sandwich at Red Rock so I was excited to try it. We ordered tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and prosciutto as an appetizer - it was good but not great. The prosciutto was too thick but the mozzarella was delicious! For our meal we ordered the tuna sandwich and a cobb salad. The tuna sandwich was good that we didn't eat much of the salad (which was also great). If you're headed to Salt Lake or Park City any time soon go to Red Rock and have the best tuna sandwich of your life.

Steph and Rob came to Provo so we had a Skyview reunion at Esther and Rob's. Cheryl and Rob joined the fun which added another Rob to the mix. The boys all had their name in common!
How does having kids change the group dynamic? At some moment during the activity all adults that have procreated will be focused on their offspring. It's actually pretty funny.

This morning I met Liv, Es and the kids at Esther's pool for a couple of hours of swimming. I LOVE going to the pool during the summer. I love being in the water, laying out, getting tan, the smell of chlorine - everything. Going to the pool with kids makes everything even better. This afternoon Robby and I went to BYU to check out the bookstore while Esther ran a ward activity. We wandered around, found lots of treasures, and then went to the mall to get dinner. There's nothing like exploring with a two year old - it always shows me what I miss in my hurried approach to life. Again, no pictures, I accidentally deleted them off my phone.

Tonight Mary and I watched Madea Goes to Jail. Some of you may judge me for this, but I love Tyler Perry. I think Madea is one of the funniest characters out there and laughed so hard, out loud, in the theatre, during Madea's Family Reunion. Madea Goes to Jail isn't nearly as funny, but Madea still has a special place in my heart.

Tonight I watched the Whettens grandkids while they went to the temple with their kids. I took pictures but deleted all of them off my iPhone by accident - Alicia, I'm sorry. I learned several things watching a ten year old, an eight year old, 2 seven year olds, a five year old, a four year old, a three year old, a two year old and a seven month old.
1. I am exceptional at crowd control.
2. Babies like me.
3. Kids mostly like me but sometimes I lose cool points by enforcing rules.
4. I cannot handle quadruplets, quintuplets or sextuplets. I'll do better if my babies come one, two or three at a time. Three may be pushing it.
5. One of my spiritual gifts is remembering names.

The time has come to start looking at new cars. My lease is up in January, I don't want to test drive in the winter and I want my decision to be made well before my lease is up. Right now I'm leaning toward 2 options - the Lexus GS 350 and the BMW 335i x.

I loved my 2007 Camry and the GS really reminds me of it...but the 335 is so fun and sporty. Decisions, decisions. What do you think?
