Home sweet home

I spent way too much time in airports yesterday due to delayed/canceled flights but I am back in Utah, no thanks to Iowa weather or Delta or United Airlines. Stephanie (pictured below), travel coordinator at APX Alarm, however, was a lifesaver. You can thank her for my return.

You may have noticed...

...that I updated the list of blogs that I read.
After I admitted that I read 74 blogs (now 75) I began getting requests for blog stalking recommendations so I thought I'd make my list of favorites available to all. I did not post every blog I read simply because I'm shy or embarrassed to admit I read the writings of certain individuals. You can judge me for filtering my list, but it won't change a thing. I have at least met most of these folks but there are some that I don't know at all (true blog stalking). The strangers can be identified by their blog name, as opposed to their name, being on the list.

Stranded in Iowa...but at least my toes are cute

My flight was delayed so if I left tonight I'd miss my connection in Minneapolis and be stuck there until midmorning tomorrow. As lovely as that sounds, I decided to stay in Iowa another night and take an early flight tomorrow. Here's the view from E&N's front window...
...and the view of the pedicure I got this afternoon (no my feet are not being suffocated, they are enjoying some paraffin wax). We got home just as the snow really started falling.

(I apologize for the cell phone pictures, I am too lazy to go find my camera)

Not that I'd mind

I'm supposed to fly home tonight but I'm starting to worry...
Not that I'd mind another day of sleeping in, hanging out with people I really like, eating good food, playing with cute kids and staying up late talking about life...

Vantage Point

Saturday afternoon Erika, Nick and I saw Vantage Point. It hasn't gotten great reviews, both in the professional critic and blog worlds, but we really liked it. The story line was interesting, character development was adequate and the action was fast paced. If you're looking for a great date movie, I recommend this one.

E&N

These are my good friends, the Laylands. Erika and I have been friends since high school and I met Nick when they got married the summer before my freshman year at BYU. Since then they have become the parents of 3 darling kids, have moved several times and I have stayed in Provo (not had any babies) and work a lot but we still manage to stay friends (primarily thanks to Erika!). I am going to visit them in Iowa (Nick's getting his PhD in economics...he's very smart) on Thursday and am SO excited to see them! They are some of my all time favorite people to spend time with so I want so badly for Thursday to come...every time I think about it I smile.

I have brown hair

I got my hair done yesterday, it's 100% brown now; so far the feedback has been positive.

Lasagna

I had Lean Cuisine Lasagna with Meat Sauce for lunch today and it was remarkably filling and delicious. You should try it.

I love this time of year because...

...of Cadbury Mini Eggs! I, like most girls I know, vote this to be the best chocolate available at your local grocer, drugstore, etc. This year I tried them in dark chocolate, thanks to E&R, and found them to be an improvement on the original. Don't bother trying them if you don't like dark chocolate, but if you do you should give them a whirl.

***If womanly issues make you uncomfortable stop reading***
True friendship is knowing when it's "that time of the month"and still being there for your moody, petulant pal all the while knowing that at any moment she could verbally attack you, burst into tears, or both, for no apparent reason. True friendship is knowing that her emotional mood swings are caused by hormones but her feelings are real and valid nonetheless. True friendship is offering to end a hormone induced pity party with a back rub.

My new black boots

I've been looking for new black boots for about 4 months. My old pair lasted 3 years and served me well in many situations but the heels were coming loose so it was time for a new pair. I've looked in every shoe department I've been in for just the right pair with no success and frankly had given up my quest. That was until I walked into Nordstrom last week and saw these on display and loved them instantly - the toe is perfect, the heel height and width ideal. My only concern was the slouchiness (80s fashion will become unfashionable again) but I was reassured by friends and a very patient salesboy that they aren't slouchy boots, they're boots with a little slouch that will remain fashionable for a long time. What do you think of them?

Step Up 2

If you could tolerate Step Up 1, you will like Step Up 2. If you kind of liked the first one (like me) you will LOVE number 2...again, like me. The story line is better, the acting is better (barely) but the dancing is a LOT better and makes the movie.
Some of you will judge me for paying money to see this in the theatre and admitting I liked it...I bet none of you judgers saw the first one. If you had, you'd probably understand where I'm coming from.

Sorry for the provacative picture...I couldn't figure out how to post any of the other pictures. I have issues.

Brother

I know I am way late on this, but I seriously laughed so hard and can't get it out of my head.

Thanks E&R for the intro.

Clarification - Valentunes

Nathan bought the Valentune for me to help the Mountain View High School choir go on a trip and the very cute boy next to me has worked for me for a long time (and he happens to be one of my favorite high schoolers).

My hot date

I had a HOT date tonight with the very handsome Robby Parsons.

We shared a romantic dinner,
played in the bath,
tried a new hairdo,
read a little,
and I even got a cuddle in before bed.
Robby, thanks for being the perfect valentine. I love you!

Happy surprise!

I had another exciting visit in the office this afternoon...from Liv and the kids! They brought me cookies, a valentine and a gerber daisy. Liv got the tour of my new office and Syd got to see Tara (they have a connection that must have started in the pre-existence so it was a happy reunion)...we had a great time. Thanks for coming to see me guys!

Valentunes

My co-worker, Nathan, called a meeting for this morning and demanded that I be in attendance; kind of out of sorts, but Nathan's random so I dealt with it. As the meeting started in walked these 8 darling teenage boys delivering a singing "Valentune." Anyone who knows me well knows that there is nothing I hate more than being sung to, so I turned bright red and could not stop laughing. Thanks boys for creating a memorable Valentine's Day!

Beautiful veggies

Mary and I threw Sarah a bridal shower a week and a half ago and served these beautiful grilled veggies. I consider a cool Excel spreadsheet the most beautiful thing I can create myself (lame, I know, but I don't have babies and I'm not *currently* crafty), but I can't hold a candle to the creations from nature.

Am I weird?

I have this clock in my new lovely office. I keep it because it was given to me and for some reason I feel bad throwing/giving it away. I shouldn't feel bad A) because it was a "gift" from Thrifty and had no sentimental meaning to the person who gave it to me and B) because it's junk that I don't need.

Does anyone else keep useless items simply because you don't think you should throw them away?

Blech

I have a cold (not a bad one, just the runny nose, sore throat kind) and it won't go away. I'm living on Airborne because I A) believe in it and B) don't feel like eating today. I'm so sick of cold season and I'm so sick of snow.

Mangloss

For Brandon: the best mangloss on the market, Vanilla Mint Chapstick

I am a blog stalker

I use Google Reader to check 74 blogs every single day (if you are a serious blogger, get Google Reader ASAP...you are wasting your life checking blogs that aren't updated). There are probably 20 blogs whose creators I don't know at all, otherwise I read about people I've at least met a couple of times.

One blog I love is Jordan Ferney's (she falls in the complete stranger category...I have no idea how I found her). She has great style and posts the cutest things that can be found in local stores (she lives in S.F.) or online and I seriously would buy nearly everything thing she posts. Today she posted about these black heels. My very stylish roommate Mary owns them and wears them. I felt a little cooler because Jordan likes them and Mary owns them and I know Mary. But I felt a lot cooler because I own the brown version.

Blog stalking may be slightly creepy, but it sure made me feel better about myself today.

(sorry about the sizing issue, my computer and I are fighting today)

I love America

Brandon made me feel bad for not blogging about things that really matter (like global warming?) and focusing on less important matters like lip gloss so I decided to devote this post to a reason that I love America. I think that America is important enough to redeem myself - Brandon?

I love America because we get to choose our leaders. We have access to the information necessary to determine if a candidate represents our beliefs and have a forum to communicate our support. As I stood in line at a Provo elementary school with SIX OTHER DEMOCRATS I was so grateful that my voice would be heard. I am also glad that I got a cool sticker that made everyone ask "who did you vote for" because I could in turn share my vote (Obama) and encourage them to exercise their right to participate in our democratic process.

The perfect lip gloss

For years I've been searching for the perfect lip gloss. I'm not picky about stickiness, but I like a LOT of shine. My roommate Sarah gave me a tub of Beauty Rush Lip Gloss from Victoria's Secret and I love it. It tastes great, lasts forever and is super shiny. At $7/tube you can't beat it!

Frederic Fekkai

I love, love, love the glossing line from Frederic Fekkai; my hair feels and smells great all day every time I use it. It's quite pricey (don't judge me for spending so much on hair product) but great for days when you need to feel good about your hair.
