My new office

I have a new office. It is so nice that I feel like I need to find beautiful, framed art to put in it (as opposed to the lovely office art already in place). The problem is that I don't have a husband or baby and I don't like to be outside a whole ton so I'm out of the usual art options...any ideas on artists that would be appropriate in an office?
Here are the perks of the new office. Boys like this stuff way more than girls. But don't get me wrong, I love my new digs.

This is Mike and Brittany.
Mike and I were friends in high school and at BYU but when he transferred to MIT we started to lose contact as is common when friends live across the country from one another. Mike emailed me last night and it made me so happy to hear from him...and I was even happier when he said that Brittany has a blog (Mike has never been great at the life update stuff)!

I spent time last night getting caught up on Mike's life and now feel like we're friends again. The best part of Mike's life that I've totally missed out on? His exceptionally darling baby, Camden. Sometimes I wish I had a baby to blog about...they're way cuter than new cars and tomatoes.

Syd is so pretty

Tonight Liv and Scott were kind enough to invite me to dinner. After we broke bread together Liv put the baby to sleep so Syd and I were left to entertain ourselves. Never one to miss out on an opportunity to hoard, Syd decided that ALL of her ponytail holders needed to be in her hair so that she was "pretty." Here's the final result:
I love that little girl!

A shout out

Josh likes lists so here’s a list of a few of my favorite things about him.

1. Josh likes to hike and even though I don’t prefer being outside, he doesn’t judge me for it. At least I hope he doesn’t.
2. Josh lets Tara and I call his beloved canine Alaska, Baked Alaska instead.
3. Josh always has gum…and he lets me have some whenever I need it.
4. Josh is always a source of entertainment at about an hour into any meeting; that’s when his ADD kicks in. I don’t know if he really has ADD, but it’s funny when he starts pacing, drinking a lot of water, and sending dramatic texts after sitting for too long.
5. Josh loves to throw parties. I’ve only been to one, but it was pretty great.
6. Josh was on my first helicopter ride and got to experience me on Xanax.
7. Josh likes me more drugged than not.
8. Josh invited me to go skiing with Housermania this year. Not sure how well that’s going to go given that his 5 year will kick my trash but I’m excited nonetheless.

Josh, welcome to my blog.

Fashionably reasonable

Olivia found the coolest website called Frugal-Fashionista that takes celebrity fashion and shows how to create the same look at a reasonable price. Some cute ideas that really are a bargain!

Sometimes I love things that are not very "me"

Like this clutch. Not me, but I still love it.
I found this on Monica's blog, who BTW, has lots of darling, stylish links because she is darling and stylish herself.

My daily bread

Lately I've been eating the same thing for breakfast every morning: a plain rice cake with cottage cheese, tomato (the office gift has improved my dining experience) and sea salt. You should try satisfies all morning and really is a tasty treat.

I recognize this post is substantially more boring than the previous one, but I needed something to take the edge off...that car gets me all worked up.

Signed, sealed, delivered

I bought an Infiniti G35x at 10 o'clock last night. It's Platinum Graphite, fully loaded (minus the sport package...I didn't like the seats or the spoiler) and absoutely beautiful. I'm in love, come drive it and you will be too.

A few pictures from the website:
And the real thing (ignore the was cold this morning):

Special thanks to Tara, she fulfilled her role as car advisor exceptionally well. And Robby, if you steal my car I will fight you.

I think we have a winner

Ok, so I haven't test driven it, but the Infiniti G35 meets all of my very high maintenance needs. The closest dealership is in Murray, so we'll see when I get up there to do a test drive, but I'm really excited about finding something that could actually work!

Car update

I've now test driven the Lexus IS 250, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Nissan Murano but cannot find anything I like more than my Camry. None of them match her in zippiness and while the interior of the Jeep and the Lexus gave her a little run for her money, when I drove the Camry again I was reminded of why I bought her. Boo to car manufacturers who can't seem to make an AWD vehicle that has decent horsepower at a reasonable price.

Can I downgrade from a V6?

I'm thinking about buying a new car. Some of you may laugh because I'm almost always looking for the bigger and better version of what I have, but this time I'm seriously thinking about it because my car sometimes has issues in the snow. I have to go up 3 steep hills in order to get home and I've run into issues when the steets have been snowy (dang Provo city put us at the bottom of the plow list) so I think it's time to make the move to AWD.

I'm thinking about the Lexus IS 250 because it's AWD and very, very cute (not to mention ridiculously nice). This is the one I test drove last night after designing basically the same thing online and I really liked it. Only question is, can I downgrade to a 4 cylinder, 200ish horsepower engine when I'm used to a V6 with 250ish horses?
Robby, would you take this over the candy drawer?

Tomatoes make a great office gift

Today I received what appears to be the best office gift yet...a box of tomatoes! Rest Haven Farms grows hydroponic beefsteak tomatoes that can be shipped anywhere in the country (and Canada too, I think) and they are DELICIOUS! If the winter months have left you longing for fresh produce, definitely consider ordering from these folks.

Have you ever...

...gotten a phone call that made you SO happy that you just couldn't stop smiling? For the entire day? Literally SMILE all day?

I got one this morning that made all of my worries disappear and reminded me just how blessed I am.

An embarrassing truth

Buying clothes online is risky business because you never know how they'll fit, but shoes seem even riskier although I'm not sure why. I found these super cute flats online, and I know what size Nine Wests I wear, but I'm just not sure that I can take the risk and order them...what if they don't fit?

For all you logical readers of my blog (yes Dallas, that means you) who are tempted to point out that I can just return them, please visit my bedroom as soon as possible to view the large pile of online purchases that have yet to be returned. I should be embarrassed that I own approximately $1,000 in merchandise that I have intended to return but have not, but it's a weakness I'm just trying to accept.

I am EXCITED... have chips and salsa with people I LOVE tonight. We have not caught up in a long time (too long, really) and so tonight will be filled with gossip and lots of laughter. I am so grateful for great girl friends!

60% of all items I see and LOVE instantly are designed by Kenneth Cole. These flats are no exception...they are stylish, comfortable and just sassy enough for people to wonder what I'm all about.

Alicia, be brave. Buy some jeweled shoes.

One thing I don't like

Do you see this little clock thing? I hate it. It means the person I want to talk to is not online. I'd REALLY like to talk to them and this dumb clock just mocks my desire.
